I. General rules of the competition

1. These Rules for conducting an investigation of the violin competition in Almaty “VIOLINISSIMO” (hereinafter referred to as the Rules) are adopted in accordance with 9) and 12) articles 7 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Culture”, subparagraph 11) paragraph 14 of the Regulations of state institutions “Committee of the Ministry of Culture” . culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, adopted by the order of the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 14, 2021 No. 143 and paragraph 6, the holding of annual violin competitions in Almaty “VIOLINISSIMO” (hereinafter referred to as the Competition).

 

2. The founder of the Competition is the State Chamber Orchestra "Kazakhstan Camerata" (hereinafter - the Founder).

II. Purpose and objectives of the Competition

  1. popularization of classical music in the Republic of Kazakhstan;

  2. improving the professional skills of talented musicians;

  3. identifying the most talented young violinists of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad, supporting and creating their professional growth;

  4. improving the cultural image of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

  5. saturation of the professional competitive environment of the Republic of Kazakhstan with bright artistic events

III. Procedure of holding of the Competition

  1. The competition will be held in Almaty from October 9 to 14, 2023 in Republic of Kazakhstan, Almaty city.
     

  2. Schedule of the competition:
    October 9 - draw of participants, opening of the Competition
    October 10-14 - audition of the 2nd round (1 and 2 parts)
    October 14 – Closing of the Competition

IV. Organizing Committee of the Competition
 

1. The Founder creates an Organizing Committee to regulate the processes of the competition

 

2. Organizing Committee of the Competition:

 

• organizes the acceptance and registration of applications form of participants in the Competition;

• advises applicants and participants of the Competition on its organization;

• exchanges information with members of the jury of the Competition;

• organizes the administration of the Competition website, controls the timeliness of placement of information materials related to the Competition;

• prepare the schedule of the Competition and places it on the information website of the Competition;

• prepare a schedule of acoustic rehearsals in the halls and a schedule of classes in rehearsal classes;

• provides regulations for the work of the jury of the Competition;

• organizes the drawing for the participants of the Competition;

• organizes the 1st (selection round) and main rounds, events of the program of the Competition;

• ensures the preparation of award documents for presentation to the participants of the Competition;

• organizes advertising and informational support of the Competition.

V. Organization and procedure for holding the Competition

1. The competition consists of a qualifying round (selection based on video recordings - online) and the second (main) offline round, consisting of two parts.

 

2. All applicants who have submitted an application for participation in the Contest with the necessary documents and materials are participating in the first (qualifying) round. The selection of applicants is carried out by the members of the jury of the Contest on the basis of the submitted videos.

 

3. According to the results of the first (qualifying) round, 10 (ten) contestants are allowed to participate in the second (main) round. The decision of the jury members on the admission of applicants to participate in the Competition (hereinafter referred to as participants who have passed the qualifying round) is published no later than July 15, 2023. The Organizing Committee sends invitations to the e-mail addresses of participants who have passed the qualifying round to participate in the second (main) round.

 

4. The order of performances of the participants of the Competition in the second round is determined by a draw. The draw is held in the morning on the day of the opening ceremony of the Competition in the presence of all participants in the Competition. If the participant of the Competition is unable to attend the draw due to objective circumstances, the participant sends a notice indicating the reason for his absence to the e-mail address of the Organizing Committee of the Competition camerata.kz@mail.ru at least one hour before the start of the ceremony. The decision on the order of performance of such a participant is made by the jury of the Competition.

 

The order of performance of the participants of the Competition is maintained throughout the second (main) round of the Competition.

 

In exceptional cases:

- illness of a participant in the competition or other force majeure circumstances), the Chairman of the Jury may decide to change the order of performances. The decision of the Chairman of the Jury of the Competition is documented in the minutes of the meeting of the Jury of the Competition.

 

6. Partners of the Competition provide participants with:

- rehearsal classes (according to the schedule drawn up by the organizing committee of the competition);

- a concert hall for acoustic rehearsals with an orchestra before each tour.

 

7. All Competition program by the participants are performed by heart.

 

8. Competitive auditions of the second and third rounds are held publicly.

 

9. Participants must arrive in Almaty according to the terms specified by the Organizing Committee of the competition in the invitation.

 

The arrival of the participants of the Competition is carried out no later than October 8, 2023.

 

10. Any contact of the participants of the Competition with any of the members of the jury during the Competition is not allowed.

 

11. The results of the second round of the Competition are announced by the Chairman of the jury at its end.

 

VI. Competition Jury
 

1. To evaluate the performances of the participants of the Competition, as well as summing up the results, a jury is created. The composition of the jury is formed from outstanding musicians of our time, prominent figures of culture and art.

 

2. Competition Jury:

- based on the results of the online tour, determines the participants of the second (main) round;

- evaluates the performances of the participants of the Competition;

- according to the results of the second (main) round - awards the prizes of the Contest;

- awards a special prize dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first professional violinist of Kazakhstan - Aitkesh Tolganbaev

 

3. Within the established number of awards, the jury has the right to:

a) to divide the prizes between the participants of the Competition (except for the Grand Prix);

b) to award not all prizes.

 

4. Decisions of the jury of the Contest are documented in the protocol and not subject to revision.

VII. Application procedure

1. An application form (hereinafter referred to as the Application) for participation in the Competition (see Appendix 1), is filled in by a participant in the Competition and have to sent the application form to the official e-mail of the Competition camerata.kz@mail.ru 

 

2. Applications for the competition are accepted until July 9, 2023 (inclusive).

 

3. If necessary, or if there are force majeure circumstances, the Founder reserves the right to decide to extend the deadline for submitting applications.

 

4. Applications without attached documents, materials, as well as those received later than the deadline, are not registered. Electronic documents and materials submitted for the Competition will not be returned.

 

5, Sending an application for participation in the Competition indicates the full consent of the candidate with the conditions set forth in these Rules, as well as the processing of his personal data.

VIII. Competition program

1 round (qualifying by video recording)

• video recording of a 20-minute program (according to the program declared by the Organizing Committee of the Competition), unedited, made in the period from December 2022 to July 2023;

• Any kind of editing of competitive video / audio materials is prohibited (summary, editing between works is prohibited), if a discrepancy is found on this item, the participant will be disqualified.

 

 

1st round.

Program:

 

1. An extended virtuoso piece for violin and piano, or a virtuoso piece for solo violin at the participant's choice.

 

2. I part of one of the following sonatas by L. Beethoven for violin and piano:

- Sonata No. 3, op.12;

- Sonata No. 5, op.24;

- Sonata No. 7, op.30;

- Sonata No. 8, op.30;

- Sonata No. 9, op.47.

 

2nd round. Part 1.

Program:

 

1. One of the concerts of W.A. Mozart at the choice of the participant (performed in full version):

                 Violin Concerto No. 1, B-flat major, K.207

                 Violin Concerto No. 2, D major, K.211

                 Violin Concerto No. 3, G major, K.216

                 Violin Concerto No. 4, D major, K.218

                 Violin Concerto No. 5, A major, K.219

            (own cadences are welcome, but not required).

 

(concerts will be performed with the accompaniment of the Chamber Orchestra of Kazakhstan – Camerata Kazakhstan)

 

2. A work by a Kazakhstani composer of the choice of the participant (music notes for download are available on the competition website - www.camerata.kz).

IX. Prizes and awards

1. The Organizing Committee of the International Violin Competition in Almaty approved the following awards: prizes for laureates and diplomats, special prizes.

 

2. The following prizes are established for the laureates of the Competition:

 

Grand Prix – 3 000 000 tenge (three million tenge) and the title of Laureate

I Prize – 2 000 000 tenge (two million tenge) and the title of Laureate

II prize – 1 500 000 tenge (one million hundred five thousand tenge) and the title of Laureate

III Prize – 1 000 000 tenge (one million tenge) and the title of Laureate

IV Prize – 500 000 tenge (five hundred thousand tenge) and the title of Laureate

V Prize – 350 000 tenge (three hundred and fifty thousand tenge) and the title of Laureate

Diploma holders – 200 000 tenge (two hundred thousand tenge) and the title of Diploma holder

 

Special prize dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first professional violinist of Kazakhstan - Aitkesh Tolganbaev – 500 000 tenge (five hundred thousand tenge)

 

3. Within the established number of awards, the jury has the right to:

a) to divide the prizes between the participants of the Competition (except for the Grand Prix);

b) to award not all prizes.

 

 

4. Special prizes: prizes and awards from state, commercial, public or creative, both Kazakhstani and foreign organizations, other persons must be agreed with the Organizing Committee of the Competition.

 

5. Established a special prize dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first professional violinist of Kazakhstan - Aitkesh Tolganbaev.

 

6. All premiums and special prizes to the participants of the Contest, provided for by these Rules, are paid in tenge at the exchange rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the day of payment with taxes withheld, in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

IX. Conditions for participants who passed the qualifying round of the Competition

1. Participants who passed the audition of the qualifying round must, within 7 (seven) days after receiving an invitation from the Organizing Committee of the Competition, submit confirmation of their participation in the next (full-time) round of the competition, as well as provide information on the date of their arrival in Almaty.

 

2. If the participant does not confirm and does not provide the necessary information about his participation in the Contest in a timely manner, the Organizing Committee, by decision of the jury members of the Contest, has the right to invite the next ranked applicant to participate in the second (main) round of the Contest.

 

3. Participants who passed the qualifying round and received an invitation to participate in the Contest independently and in a timely manner:

 

• apply to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to apply for a visa on the basis of an invitation provided by the Organizing Committee (for foreign citizens from countries that have a visa regime with the Republic of Kazakhstan) and bear the associated costs;

• necessary to have medical insurance;

• give information about the musical instrument they are importing into the customs declaration at the entrance to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

 

4. The Organizing Committee of the Competition covers living expenses for the participants of the competition who have passed to the second (main) round.
